The book is a collection of articles on historical and current topics. The central place is occupied by the essay “Stalin, Vasilevsky and Zhukov. Battles for Leningrad." The Stalin-Zhukov tandem that formed before the Second World War led to large losses of our troops and our territory in the initial period of the war. The Stalin-Vasilevsky tandem that formed during the war years, through well-developed and carried out military operations, led to numerous victories on the battlefields and to Victory over Nazi Germany. As the most outstanding military leader, Stalin appointed Vasilevsky Commander-in-Chief of the troops against Japan. Within 24 days, Japanese troops were defeated and capitulated. Stalin valued Vasilevsky much higher than Zhukov. In a year and a half, Vasilevsky went from major general to marshal of the USSR. During the war years, Vasilevsky was awarded all the orders that Zhukov was, but the price of each order is much higher. After the war, Stalin appointed Zhukov commander of first the Odessa and then the Ural Military District. Vasilevsky, under Stalin, was appointed to senior military positions: from 1946 - chief of the General Staff, and from 1959 until Stalin's death (more precisely, until March 16, 1953) minister of the USSR Armed Forces. It is not clear why the name of Zhukov is heard loudly now, while the name of Vasilevsky, who made a much greater contribution to the Victory over Nazi Germany and especially over Japan, as well as to the development of military science, remains in the shadows?
