This book is an attempt to fill the blank space created by a group of falsifiers led by party ideologist Suslov. The spot was filled by the Shvernik Commission, created under Khrushchev to investigate the murder of Kirov and other Stalinist crimes. The commission included: Shvernik, KGB Chairman Shelepin, Prosecutor General Rudenko and Olga Grigorievna Shatunovskaya, who was summoned by Khrushchev from post-Kolyma exile in 1954. In fact, she led the entire investigation, constantly facing opposition from the Stalinists. When Khrushchev stopped supporting her, Olga Grigorievna was forced to resign, and from a huge file in 64 volumes, the most important documents began to disappear or be replaced by others. During a journalistic investigation conducted during the period of perestroika, it was possible to discover only a list of documents sent to the Politburo signed by Shvernik and Shatunovskaya. There are no documents themselves. Only records of Olga Grigorievna’s stories to her children and grandchildren, as well as to the author of this book, have survived. Therefore, it is of great importance to become acquainted with the personality of Shatunovskaya - the legendary heroine of the Baku commune, from a young age ready to sacrifice herself in the name of the idea of the people's good, a person of enormous willpower, courage and a clear mind. Her stories are supplemented by other documents from the era of the Great Terror and the author’s reflections on the philosophy of Russian history.
