A new book about Marina Tsvetaeva (1892–1941) was in demand in a new time, different from the last decades of the 20th century, when the triumph of her poetry gave rise to enormous color studies. In the course of research, new discoveries, and publications, such depths and abysses opened up that it seemed dangerous to look into. Previous biographers, mostly women, were shocked by other life turns of their heroine. This book was written by a poet. Admiration for the great gift of M. Tsvetaeva, at the same time, did not cancel the author’s sober view of everything that happened to her; A special style of storytelling is also associated with this. A famous father, early success, then poverty, crowbar diligence, and with all this, persistent faith in the power of the poetic word, loyalty to poetry - not hyperbolization, but a fact. The fate of Marina Tsvetaeva in today's conditions, which do not require a poet to kill a poet, can in itself amaze the reader. Even in her youth, she exclaimed: “I have two enemies in the world, / Two twins, inextricably fused: / The hunger of the hungry - and the satiety of the well-fed!” What would she be doing these days? She is, one might say, an ardent anti-market activist: “Trees! I'm coming to you! Save yourself / From the roar of the market!..”
