Dick Webo, the bastard of Richard the Lionheart, continues to fight in the crusade, hiding his magical gift from others. His main enemy is not the Saracens, but the high priest of Satan, the dark magician Lord Dalkhan, who has opened a hunt for the young knight. Hiding from the persecution of the dark cult, Dick Webo gains his own magical power - but too slowly. He is helped to the best of his ability by his companions - the unlucky druid Tragern and a girl with the strange name Serpiana, born in another world.
