The personality of the last Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, Abdul Hamid II, is of keen interest not only to historians, but also to the general public. In her memoirs, one of the Sultan’s daughters, Shadiye, talks about life in the palace and about her father - the great Sultan, politician, ruler and simply a beloved and dear person. The princess's memoirs were first published in 1963 in the form of an interview in a popular Turkish magazine. A little later they turned into a book called “Sad and Happy Days of My Life.” Since then, these memoirs have been published and republished both in Turkey and in other countries for more than half a century. The book “My Father Abdul-Hamid, or Confession of the Daughter of the Last Sultan of the Ottoman Empire” is being published in Russian for the first time.
