Calle Fletcher was very young when her mother took her from Alaska to the civilized world of Toronto. The isolation and extreme temperatures proved unbearable for the pilot's wife, accustomed to all the amenities of a big city. Now Calla is twenty-six, and her father, who remained in Alaska, has long been a past for her, which she was afraid to remember. But now it’s time to make a difficult journey to the border town where she was once born. Bad weather conditions, mosquitoes, short daylight hours, sky-high prices - this is what Calla has to put up with in order to become closer to her father. She is accompanied by Jonah, a quiet and proud pilot who does not immediately accept a foreigner who is too gentle to live in extreme conditions. Unlike Calla, Jonah cannot imagine himself in any other place on the planet and would never trade the snowy mountains for anything else. He can't wait for the capricious girl to finally leave him alone and go where she belongs. Jonah may be right, but Calle can't wait to lay him down. Time passes and she realizes that she has become attached to the grumpy pilot. Now they are connected by something like friendship or even something more, which they both cannot admit to themselves. In the end, Calla will return to Toronto, and Jonah will remain in Alaska. It would be stupid to fall in love with someone you can never be with. Isn't that right?
