The Mesozoic era is usually considered the era of dinosaurs. Perhaps people interested in paleontology (not specialists, of course) will recall marine reptiles, fossil birds or fish. But some of the most common and important animals for the existence of an ecosystem are almost always out of sight - insects and other invertebrates. Traditionally, in books about prehistoric life, they are given sadly little attention: only the giant insects of the Paleozoic are mentioned, and, perhaps, that’s all. It will be all the more interesting to read this book for people interested in prehistoric life, since this book breaks some stereotypes. It tells the story of the inhabitants of the Cretaceous period of the Mesozoic era, but the dinosaurs are just extras here, the background for the story about other creatures - about insects and other invertebrates, as well as about their difficult relationship with dinosaurs. from this book the reader will learn about what insects were found in the forests of the Cretaceous period, how they damaged plants that served as food for dinosaurs, how they sucked the blood of dinosaurs and transmitted diseases. The authors of the book are specialists who have been studying insects preserved in amber for many years, and a significant part of the book is written on the basis of material obtained from the study of such insects found in Cretaceous sites from Lebanon, Burma and Canada. The book contains black and white photographs and drawings . Unfortunately, for reasons beyond the control of the translator of the book, the numerous color tabs mentioned in the text are missing. Maybe someday...
