The author is an officer of Her Majesty's Life Guards Cuirassier Regiment Vladimir Trubetskoy (1892–1937). This is a fascinating and at the same time historically accurate story about the military people of Russia at the beginning of the 20th century, about the everyday life of their training and the holidays of maneuvers and reviews. In addition, “Notes of a Cuirassier” is the only description of its kind in the popular genre of the structure of the Russian Guard and the training of its officers and soldiers. The heroes of Trubetskoy's memoirs were a variety of people - from a Gatchina cab driver to Countess Apraksina, from colleagues in the regiment to Nicholas II and Empress Maria Fedorovna.
