Once upon a time, the young poet Andrei Voznesensky demanded: “Remove Lenin from the money!” The high-ranking Leninists were speechless by such heresy, Sberbank called the author to account. Times will change, and for the same lines the poet will be accused of “aiding the regime.” “Get out of the country!” - Khrushchev thundered at him. The poet did not “get away.” Years later, Khrushchev’s descendants would come to him from the United States for the famous photograph in which the leader threatens the poet with anathema. Voznesensky lived for 77 years (1933–2010), and his fate was forever intertwined with the fate of the country, where for some he was too “Western,” for others he was too “patriotic.” Fellow peers will argue for the title of “student” of Pasternak, but only Voznesensky will he write: “Happy that I lived to see your first success.” The famous four poets of the sixties, who gathered stadiums of fans, have become overgrown with mythology, but questions remain. Were Voznesensky and Yevtushenko friends or foes? What did the poet Aragon and the artist Picasso, the existentialist Sartre and the beatnik Ginsberg, the philosopher Heidegger and the playwright Miller find in the young Voznesensky? Why did the chairman of the Belarusian collective farm, Comrade Bedulya, and... Jacqueline Kennedy dote on Voznesensky? Is it true that Brodsky not only slandered him, but invited him to his place for coffee and discussed his favorite cats? Why was Voznesensky not given the Nobel Prize, although they were going to?.. Igor Virabov, a philologist and journalist, with the passion of a detective, investigates these and other equally important and sensational topics in the book. Composer Shchedrin, actor Smekhov, writer Gladilin, poets Suleimenov, Kublanovsky, Kedrov, the director’s sister M. Tarkovskaya, the muse of the poet Oz and other muses, the poet’s daughter Arina share their memories with him... Everything is known about Andrei Voznesensky - and nothing is known about him. Let's try to get to know Voznesensky again! sign of information products 16+
