The book by Doctor of Philology I. L. Galinskaya includes studies of the works of J. D. Salinger and M. Bulgakov. The author carries out a linguistic-stylistic analysis of the novel “The Catcher in the Rye”, considers Russian translations of this novel, as well as the continuation of the novel, released in 2009 by an English publishing house. The author of this work is the Swedish writer Fredrik Kolting (pen name J.D. California). In the Russian translation, the novel is called “Evening in the Rye. 60 years later.” The work of M. Bulgakov is examined in various aspects: the unresolved dispute in Bulgakov’s studies, the image of the environment in Bulgakov’s prose, ethics, aesthetics and poetics of Bulgakov, the reception of Bulgakov’s work in English-language criticism, Mikhail Bulgakov and his time through the eyes of a new generation. The book is addressed to a wide range of readers.
