Wolfdietrich Schnurre is one of the most popular satirists and humorists in Germany. The story is included in the collection of autobiographical novel in stories “When Father's Mustache Was Still Red.” The focus is on family conflict. A downtrodden woman, oppressed by years of abuse from her husband, returns from the circus as a new person. Having reached the point of despair, she was suddenly able to overcome the state of apathetic humiliation: the only one in the audience, she responded (for the first time in many years of the circus’s existence) to the invitation of the lion trainer and entered the arena - into the cage of the taken aback beast. In a fit of somnambulistic recklessness, she managed to steal a pistol from the trainer, with which she threatens her husband upon arriving home, forcing him to listen to her to the end at least once in his life.
