From the pen of the outstanding Finnish classic writer Tsakarias Topelius (1818–1898), a huge number of wonderful fairy tales and stories for children came out. The best examples of them are united in this book by the author's proverb about a box with stories. Something is just not there! The reader will be met by Tutteli and Putteli, the Old Man from the Moon, the dragonfly that does not freeze in winter, the Christmas goat, brownies, trolls, kings and queens, and even an old pine stump that granted wishes, but at the same time claimed that there was nothing magical about it. On the pages of Topelius's fairy tales, ordinary Finnish boys and girls come to life, the fairy-tale is intertwined with the real, elements of fantasy are combined with historical legends. The author constantly instills in readers high and noble feelings - love for neighbors, loyalty to the fatherland, admiration for poetry and fairy tales; teaches you to despise arrogance and greed. That is why his small masterpieces, born in the bosom of the original nature of the North, have been read by more than one generation of children and adults. Illustrations by A. Edelfelt, J. Akke, J.
