Tony Hawkes was born on February 27, 1960 in Brighton (UK). He first came to fame as a performer and songwriter: he was the leader of the group Morris Minor and the Majors, and in 1988 the trio's song "Stutter Rap" took 4th place in the British Marches. Later, Hawks acted as a stand-up comedian, hosted television games, starred in TV series, and “warmed up” the audience on the set of comedy programs. He has hosted various award ceremonies more than once, and not so long ago he hosted his own radio program, “The Lost Weekend.” Tony Hawks's first book, A Fridge in Ireland, appeared in 1997, entered the Sunday Times bestseller list of the year, was translated into several languages and sold 500,000 copies. In it, the author told about his adventures when, as a result of a bet, he had to hitchhike around Ireland, and along with a refrigerator. The second book, Playing Tennis with the Moldovans, which also owes its appearance to the controversy, was shortlisted for two awards in 2000 - the Samuel Johnson and Bollinger Everyman Wodehouse awards. In the book “Piano in the Pyrenees,” Hawkes described how he bought a house in the south of France to realize his dream of “an idyllic house somewhere abroad.” After the England-Moldova football match, in which the British won with a clear advantage, the actor, For some reason, musician and TV presenter Tony Hawks decided that he was capable of beating Moldovan football players even in tennis, and made a bet with a friend. To win the bet, he had to not only visit Moldova, where a person accustomed to a well-established English way of life would encounter the harsh truth of life, but also go after the Moldovan players, first to Northern Ireland, and then to Israel... The bet was for 100 pounds, ended up costing much more - but it was worth it!
