A crew of three astronauts on the Sunflower ship was sent on the first around-the-solar expedition. The luminary greeted them with extremely powerful flashes. Emerging from behind the Sun and heading towards home, they discover that superflares locally affected the time coordinate... That is, three centuries have passed on Earth, too much has changed. The story received the Nebula Award in 1977, and also shared first place in the “ Hugo" with Spider Robinson's story "By Any Other Name" and took 3rd place at the Locus Award for the same year.
