The play takes place over the course of 24 hours during the last summer of the life of actress Sarah Bernhardt at her seaside villa. Sarah is in a hurry to complete the second volume of her memoirs, trying through the thickness of fiction and myths about herself, through years and decades, to get to the essence, to the core of her own destiny. She selects the surest key to the storehouses of her memory - the theatrical one. She takes her devoted secretary, Georges Pitou, as her partner and starts a game of memories.
