Did rhinoceroses live in the Urals? It is unlikely that residents of the Urals ask themselves this question every day. Because we usually live in today’s day and ancient times interest us little. And if there are antiquities, then they are Egyptian, or Greek, or some other foreign exotica. And not everyone knows what amazing Ural antiquities are hidden very close to us. Back in school we were told about Egyptian mummies, but we don’t know about the Shigir idol, which is eleven and a half thousand years old. We are amazed at the ancient pyramids - and have never heard of the mounds of the South Ural steppes. We read about mysterious drawings in the Nazca desert in South America - and we cannot imagine that the same huge drawing (geoglyph) was found near Lake Zyuratkul. We saw Stone Henge in pictures, but we have no idea about the megaliths of the Urals. We admire Ancient Troy, which Homer wrote about, and few people have traveled to Arkaim, which is almost four thousand years old. And of course, few of the guys know about the most ancient inhabitants of the Urals. They lived here when people had not yet appeared on Earth, and left their traces in the rocks. And what seas were in this place before the Urals is also not known to everyone. The incredible, unimaginably ancient and fascinating history of the Urals from the origin of the Earth is reflected in this book, written for readers of middle and high school age. Of course, not all of it - and the author apologizes to them in advance that he could not put everything he wanted into this book. But in order to even briefly talk about all the wonders of the ancient history of the Urals, a hundred such books would be needed. Source:
