UDK 355/359 BBK 68 N 64 Design of the series by S. Kurbatov Nikolskaya S. N. N 64 “Muromians” in battle: Exploits of Russian aviators / Sergei and Mikhail Nikolsky. - M.: Eksmo: Yauza, 2010. - 384 p. : ill. - (The Great Forgotten War). ISBN 978-5-699-41235-8UDK 355/35 In 1915, airplanes appeared over the battlefields of the First World War, which even the bravest science fiction writers of the early 20th century had not dreamed of. The huge four-engine Ilya Muromets bombers, designed by the brilliant Russian aircraft designer Igor Sikorsky, terrified the enemy. Until the end of the Great War, no one else was able to create anything like it. The revolution destroyed not only old Russia, but also its nascent aircraft industry. And the Civil War forever separated two siblings who fought on the Muromtsy - Sergei and Mikhail Nikolsky: one emigrated, the other chose to stay in Soviet Russia. Both of them, independently of each other, wrote the most valuable memoirs: Sergei Nikolaevich - in the form of a front-line diary, and Mikhail Nikolaevich - in the form of a review of the combat work of the Ilya Muromets bombers during the First World War and the Civil War. These books were published in microscopic editions and are known only to a narrow circle of specialists. Only now, published under one cover, they become the property of all lovers of military history.9 BBK 68© Nikolsky A. and Yu., text, photo, 2010 (heirs) © Mikheev V., appendices, notes, 2010© Khairulin M., introduction, 2010 © LLC Publishing House "Yauza", 2010 ISBN 978-5-699-41235-8 © LLC Publishing House "Eksmo", 2010
