Junichiro Tanizaki (1886–1965) is a Japanese writer, an ideologist of truly Japanese style and taste, which is clearly expressed in his works. In his creations one can see the deliberately emphasized inner, aesthetic world of a man from Japan. The writer reveals the world of Japanese people through the prism of the relationships between the heroes of his stories, thereby showing the difference between the eastern people and the western ones. And also the incompatibility of way of thinking and way of life. All his creations are imbued with the spirit of a truly Japanese worldview of life.
