The famous Leningrad writer Elena Yakovlevna Danko decided to please the children and wrote the fairy tale “The Defeated Karabas”, in which she told about the new adventures of Pinocchio. The book was published in the spring of 1941. Soon the Great Patriotic War began and E. Danko died during the evacuation from Leningrad besieged by the Nazis. But the book has survived.
