Not far from Jerusalem, during archaeological excavations, a priceless scroll was discovered - “The Gospel of Judas”. The decoding of the text was entrusted to the Catholic priest Leo Newman. Leo is experiencing a crisis of faith in God. He understands: if the scroll is recognized as authentic, it will shake the foundations of Christianity and affect the fate of millions of believers... The priest asks the question: what is more important - the peace of ignorance or the Truth? The action of the novel either runs ahead, telling about Leo’s life after a kind of resurrection, then returns to the fascist Rome 1943. The narrative lines are woven into a single story about life and death, duty and passion, love and betrayal.
