The book reveals details of pre-war events in the Red Army in 1940-1941. The plan for the deployment of armed forces approved by the Soviet government, as well as a number of General Staff directives sent to the western districts, are examined in detail. Based on the materials of the Pokrovsky commission, the degree of preparedness of the western districts and how they met the German invasion are shown. The book is filled with a lot of factual material. Most of the documents reviewed are listed at the end of the book.
