The small town of Byron in Bavaria. Russian Germans who emigrated from Kazakhstan found refuge here. Here the terminally ill writer Herr Ross lives out his life. He is depressed, exhausted and pathetic. Thoughts of death have taken over his mind, and it becomes more difficult to resist them day by day. On another dreary cloudy morning, Ross decides to commit suicide. And what a coincidence, that same morning he receives a letter from Alois Kalt, a bloodthirsty maniac nicknamed the Bavarian Monster. Kalt writes that he did not kill anyone, that he was framed, and asks Ross for a meeting. Curiosity suddenly revives in the writer. He decides to postpone suicide and meet with the maniac...
