A psychoanalytic report on Adolf Hitler was prepared by Dr. Walter Langer in 1943, commissioned by General William Donovan, who headed American foreign intelligence during World War II. The first analysis of its kind marked the beginning of similar studies of foreign leaders by CIA psychoanalysts. The materials were declassified after the war and published in the form of a book with a foreword by Walter Langer's brother, William, the creator and head of the analytical divisions of the OSS and CIA, as well as an afterword by the historian Robert Waite. The book is intended for analysts of various directions.
