And although the permanence of war is depressing, this spiritual connection between people, which does not allow time to be interrupted, which does not allow those who have left to disappear without a trace, conveys joy. Joy and well-deserved gratitude, echoing in the hearts of those who live now. The novel intertwines reality and fiction, philosophy and everyday thoughts. There was a place for the metaphorical wind, and the specter of the end of the world, and the new Noah's Ark, and high faith in God, and family brothels in Corsica, and supposedly aliens who cannot be distinguished from those who live on earth today.
