The work of Vasily Georgievich Fedorov (1895–1959) is a unique phenomenon in Russian emigrant literature. Fedorov managed in his own way to convey the tragicomedy of emigration, its life and existence, despite the fact that he is not a humorist. The tragicomic effect is achieved by telling very funny stories about very serious subjects and events. Humor is a characteristic feature of the style of a subtle, intelligent, elegant writer. Fedorov’s fate was such that his work seemed to fall out of the history of literature. The time has come to return the works of the talented Russian writer to the reader. The book includes the novel “Canary Happiness”, the stories “Trinkets”, “The Beautiful Esmeralda”, stories and articles by Fedorov.
