The third volume of the Complete Works of St. Ignatius includes his famous theological treatise “The Discourse on Death” - a work that is generally recognized as outstanding. In the “Appendix” section, archival texts created by the Saint during his service as dean of the St. Petersburg diocese are published for the first time, and these texts were created directly in the northern monasteries or immediately after visiting them. Each page, written by the hand of the great ascetic of God and finally taken out of the archive and made public, is a great event for the believing Orthodox heart. It is impossible to read these animated pages without excitement, and there are many of them here - as many as 300! There is so much only in this volume, there will be a lot in others. All texts have been verified with the autographs of the Saint. Readers will also be pleased with other discoveries: this volume presents the first publication of the correspondence of Saint Ignatius with the rector of the Valaam Monastery, Fr. Damascene; The book closes with a painting of the Brianchaninov family, without which not a single biography of Bishop Ignatius can do. All texts are given in full.
