Rolando Cristofanelli (born in 1916 in Livorno) is an Italian writer and publicist, literary critic and art critic. Began publishing in 1959. Author of the stories "Christina", "Star" and others. Connoisseur of Renaissance art. Among the works dedicated to this period are works on Michelangelo and Raphael. .This book is not a fictionalized biography. This is an original fictional account of Michelangelo, the man and the artist. It unfolds in the form of a diary kept by the hero, that is, Michelangelo himself. Using extensive documentary material, including notes, accounts, letters of the artist, as well as numerous facts accumulated by his biographers - from Vasari and Condivi, witnesses of the life and work of Michelangelo, to modern researchers of his work - the author does not seek to mystify the reader, does not try pass off what is written as the artist’s “authentic” diary. For him, this is just a technique that makes it possible to show “from the inside” the beautiful and tragic fate of the artist, the real situation that surrounded him, and the characteristic features of his personality.
