The memoirs published in this collection are a few more pages from the history of the First World War, which turned into the Civil War in Russia. The fate of the women memoirists turned out to be similar: very young, seized by a patriotic impulse, they rushed to the front to become part of the Russian Army, at war with an external enemy. After the split into whites and reds, they joined the Volunteer Army and went through with it to the end the difficult path of its defeat, which ended for them with the loss of their homeland.
