The book offered to the reader’s attention is a commented Russian translation of the lengthy edition of the treatise “On the Preaching of the Cross” (De predicatione crucis), written approximately 1266–1268. by the fifth Master General of the Dominican Order, Humbert Romansky, as instructions for the preachers of the Crusades in Palestine. In addition to the translation text itself, the book contains comments on the history of studying the treatise, various editions of the text of the treatise, the structural features and historical context of the creation of the lengthy edition of the treatise, as well as the hypothesis of its use in the holy wars of the fifteenth century.
