The novel, set in our time, continues the thematic line represented by the names of Borges, Salinger and Leonid Andreev. Strange and, at first glance, absurd characters set off from the tropical coast of Sochi, this “Russian Florida,” to the Caucasus Mountains in search of a missing girl in order to rediscover the meaning of life, in order to at the same time save the whole world from the impending meaninglessness of existence. A meeting with the local god of the Ubykhs, a mysterious Caucasian tribe that has disappeared from the face of the earth, should provide them with a life-saving way out of the moral impasse. And the members of the local “Elvis Presley club”, eccentrics and “dudes” who decided to personally save the world, leaving their homes, jobs and families for this, indeed meet a personal god and receive the desired answer, but the answer is very unexpected. The tragicomic narrative is replete with fantastic images and situations adjacent to completely everyday situations, and is filled with that joyful wisdom that is given to the “fool” and hidden from the sage.
