Max Brod is one of the largest representatives of the “Prague school” of German writers (Kafka, Rilke, Meyrink, etc.), he is known to us as the same person who did not fulfill Frans Kafka’s will - he did not destroy his manuscripts, but sent them for printing. Meanwhile, Brod was an outstanding novelist, whose trilogy “Tycho Brahe goes to God” (1916), “Reubeni, Prince of the Jews” (1925) and “Galileo in Prison” (1948) has long been rightly considered a classic.
Max Brod is known to us as the same person who did not fulfill the will of Franz Kafka: it was ordered to destroy all the manuscripts of the Prague genius, but instead the executor sent them to print. And this story has unfairly obscured from us the wonderful novelist Max Brod, whose famous “Reubeni, Prince of the Jews” tells the story of the adventurous fate of a medieval native of the Prague ghetto, who showed up at the court of the Pope, allegedly as the plenipotentiary ambassador of the great state of the Jews, lost in the Arabian sands - and proposed to create a military alliance with the aim of liberating the Holy Land...
