Starting with the official celebration of the 1000th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus', this event is usually assessed as extremely positive, and Christianity has actually become the state religion in post-Soviet Russia. This book challenges church and Kremlin officialdom, questioning the “leaf” historical myths and asking questions that are not usually discussed: Was the Baptism of Rus' a blessing or a curse? United - or split the Russian people forever? Did it elevate and save the Russian Land – or did it break our history? How much blood did it cost - and was this price excessive? Why did all Russian rebels, from Bolotnikov, Razin and Pugachev to the Bolsheviks, consider it their duty to hang priests, while the “God-bearing people” actively participated in these atrocities?
