In America, short 10-minute plays are currently very popular for numerous theater festivals. The plays presented in the book touch upon pressing issues: loneliness and love, marriage and difficulties in raising children, the experiences of children in same-sex marriages, relationships between daughters and mother, religion and faith in God. “Russian Master Class” and “Misha Chekhov” are a nostalgic tribute to Russian theatrical art. The author of the book, Lyudmila Anselm, is Russian, lives in the USA, and considers many problems from the perspective of the Russian mentality, although she tries to understand the Americans. One of the plays is dedicated to the American Dream and the attitude of Americans towards this myth. The plays in English follow the order of the plays in Russian, which are arranged alphabetically. The plays: “Mother and Daughter”, “Parrot” and the monologue “After the Divorce” are presented in the book only in Russian. The short plays were written for “Ten Minute Play” Festivals that are popular now in America. The plays touch upon the problems of vital importance that have always been stirring: loneliness and love, marriages and difficulties in bringing up children, especially teenagers, children's feelings in same-sex marriages, relations between mothers and daughters, religion and belief in God. “Russian Master Class” and “Misha Chekhov” are nostalgic tributes to Russia's Theater history. The pieces “Mother and Daughter”, “The Parrot”, and the monologue “After the Divorce” are only in Russian.The author, L. Anselm, is Russian. She is living in Boston, although she tries to understand the American as well. One play is dedicated to the “American Dream”, and Americans’ attitude towards their “American Dream”.
