Sentimentalism was a very popular trend in Russian literature of the 19th century. The most famous “sentimentalist” in Russia was N.M. Karamzin. Everyone knows, or at least has heard, about “poor Liza” and “scoundrel Erast.” But then they somehow began to forget about it. In the 20th century there was no time for “sentiments”. Blood flowed like a river, dulling feelings and experiences, and there was so much backbreaking work in the country that there was more than enough for everyone. Our “Lizas” were running around more and more with construction trowels. And now? How are we with feelings in the 21st century? So I won’t answer. It just seems to me, not very much. We now have information instead of knowledge. And instead of feelings, what do we have now? Motivation, sexual experiences? I advise you not to look at TV in search of an answer. And sometimes you want to go somewhere far, far away from all this “darkness, porn and crime”, look through something like this at your leisure... remember from Pushkin: “I will shed tears over fiction, And maybe - at my sad sunset, love will flash with a smile farewell."
