“The World Behind the Hill” - one one of the first books devoted to the history of science fiction. The authors tried to cover the evolution of the genre from Horace Walpole's 1764 fantasy “The Castle of Otranto” to the mid-twentieth century.
The book is well written and easy to read, largely thanks to the soulful translation by Pavel Polyakov, an activist of the KLF movement from Omsk.
After reading, you will have a significant list of works about many of which you have never heard of before, but which will enrich your understanding of Western speculative literature.
The Panshins’ book is recommended for all lovers of the history of the fantastic genre.
