The novel "The Fox Woman" is written in the form of excerpts from three diaries: Kitsune (the fox woman), Kaya no Yoshifuji (her lover) and Shikujo (his wife) and is based on the Fox Magic story, for Key Johnson received the prestigious Theodore Sturgeon Award.
