The book of the outstanding church figure, writer and polemicist Bishop. Arseny Uralsky (1840–1908) covers the main issues of Orthodox eschatology. The book was written to refute numerous misconceptions that arose among the priestless Old Believers in connection with their concept of a “spiritual” (mental) Antichrist and the desire to canonically justify their refusal to accept the priesthood. First of all, sources authoritative for the Old Believers were used. Published according to the first edition: Iasi, 1888, type. “B.N.P……k” (i.e. “God is our Helper”). The Slavic text of the work is rendered in a modern civil font; In all other respects, the spelling and punctuation features of the first edition have been preserved as far as possible.
