The novel takes place in North America during the colonial period. City resident Kathleen Brown and her children come to the farm to visit her uncle, who lives in a dangerous neighborhood with the local Apache tribes. The long journey becomes only the beginning of a series of trials awaiting her in a new place. The woman will have to learn all the hardships of life that await white settlers on the endless plains of the prairies. Suddenly, the mysterious Indian Mia becomes her assistant. Together they develop land with little harvest, encounter bandits and visit an Indian camp. Against the backdrop of unusual adventures, the relationships between the main characters develop. Hostility and wariness are gradually replaced by trust and friendship, which bring with them new difficulties. Will the heroines understand the real feelings that bind them, that is the question.

Цей роман став для мене справжнім відкриттям! Автор майстерно передає атмосферу колоніальної Північної Америки, занурюючи читача в світ, де кожен день стає боротьбою за виживання. Історія Кетлін Браун та її дітей, які намагаються знайти своє місце в небезпечному оточенні, захоплює з перших сторінок. Особливо вразила динаміка стосунків між Кетлін і загадковою індіанкою Мією. Їхня дружба, що розвивається на фоні труднощів, показує, як важливо знаходити спільну мову навіть у найскладніших обставинах. Книга не лише розважає, але й змушує задуматися про взаєморозуміння між культурами, про стереотипи та упередження. Я б рекомендував цю книгу всім, хто цінує глибокі емоційні історії з сильними персонажами та захоплюючим сюжетом. Вона залишила у мені незабутнє враження!
