A simple gas mechanic from Chita is transported four hundred years into the future - into a world where hippos suddenly materialize on balconies; where people solve complex problems of moving in time and space, relax, and play sports. Where academicians, led by the President of the Academy of Sciences, are not averse to chopping wood and sitting in friendly company. And they do all this with taste and pleasure; in short, this is a world similar to the one in which “Monday begins on Saturday.” The novel was not published during the lifetime of the author, Alexander Efimovich Shepilovsky (1934–1999), but published in 2009 year was published in such a small print run that, unfortunately, it turned out to be practically inaccessible to a wide range of readers.
