The book "The System of Nature, or the Laws of the Moral and Physical World. Volume 1" is a philosophical work of the outstanding French philosopher and atheist Paul-Henri Thiry Holbach, Baron de Holbach. In his book, the author considers the universe as one big whole, which is subject to natural laws. He rejects the idea of the existence of a higher power, claiming that all phenomena can be explained with the help of scientific laws.
Holbach criticizes religion, considering it a social abuse, which leads to the oppression of the scientific way of thinking and the limitation of human freedom. In his work, he tried to build a new worldview based on natural laws and the understanding of the universe as one big system.
"The System of Nature, or the Laws of the Moral and Physical World. Volume 1" caused a wide resonance in the philosophical environment of its time and continues to leave its mark in modern discussions about the role of religion and science in society.
