Helmut Шибель, commander of company in composition the 13th tank division of вермахта, describes the way passed to them on the roads of Second world war. It is a recital of heavy fights at the East front, about severe soldier's week-days, about that, how front-line soldiers battled and perished. His diary is a certificate of soldier testing on itself horrors of frightful war, but not losing human dignity and ability to reflect : he tries to be objective in the estimations, giving the contribution of bravery and to nobleness regardless of who shows them: soviet warrior or soldier of вермахта. A confidence in victory changes understanding of imminent catastrophe, at the end of narration he with bitter taste pronounces: "For us stole the years of youth. With us all is ended. All will collapse soon, and the Third reich will never be".
