"Iphigenia in Tavria: A Drama in Five Acts" is a work by the famous German poet and playwright Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. This tragedy, written in 1779, is based on the ancient myth of the sacrifice of Princess Iphigenia. The heroine of the book is captured by the Taurians, where she becomes the victim of a sacrifice in honor of the goddess Artemis. But at the last moment it turns out that the sacrifice is not necessary, and Iphigenia finds a way to save herself and her family. Goethe examines the themes of morality, faith and sacrifice in the book, giving this drama a deep philosophical meaning.
