Many have never heard of the hero of this book, although he was the son of the great physicist Pyotr Kapitsa, a famous geographer who contributed to the solution of many scientific problems. Andrei Petrovich Kapitsa managed to make one of the most important geographical discoveries of our time - to predict the existence of a gigantic freshwater lake under the ice of Antarctica, which allows us to rightfully call him “Columbus of the 20th century.” He tells about the life of this outstanding scientist, full of travels and searches, losses and gains the first detailed biography, which was created by Mikhail Slipenchuk and Alexey Shcherbakov based on family archives, documents, memories of relatives and friends of A. P. Kapitsa.

Вражаюча біографія про невідомого генія!
Книга "Андрій Капіца. Колумб XX століття" стала для мене справжнім відкриттям. Я ніколи не чув про цього видатного географа, і тепер, прочитавши цю біографію, я вражений його досягненнями та внеском у науку. Автори Михайло Сліпенчук та Олексій Щербаков чудово зібрали інформацію з сімейних архівів, документів та спогадів, що дозволяє читачеві глибше зрозуміти особистість Андрія Петровича. Його відкриття гігантського прісноводного озера під льодами Антарктиди справді заслуговує на увагу, і я вважаю, що його ім'я повинно бути відоме ширшій аудиторії. Хоча в тексті іноді зустрічаються недоліки в перекладі, загальна якість книги залишається високою, а її зміст надзвичайно цікавим. Рекомендую всім, хто цікавиться наукою, географією та історією, прочитати цю книгу і дізнатися більше про цю непересічну особистість!
