Автор майстерно переносить читача в 1941 рік, де кожна сторінка наповнена емоціями, болем і стражданнями, які переживали солдати під час Великої війни. Головний герой, Забабашкін, є яскравим прикладом того, як доля може змінити життя людини в один момент. Його історія сповнена глибоких роздумів про сенс життя, війну та людські цінності. Хоча події та персонажі вигадані, вони настільки реалістичні, що змушують задуматися про справжні жахи війни. Окремо хочу відзначити якість перекладу, яка, незважаючи на деякі недоліки, все ж дозволяє насолодитися текстом.
