"День Незалежності" - це справжній шедевр сучасної американської літератури, який вражає своєю глибиною і складністю. Річард Форд майстерно зображує внутрішній світ Френка Баскомба, який намагається знайти своє місце в житті, стикаючись з радощами та горем, що супроводжують його щоденність. Екзистенційна хроніка, що охоплює кілька днів, змушує читача задуматися про важливі питання буття, про те, що означає бути людиною в сучасному світі. Цинічна іронія, поєднана з наївною надією, створює неповторну атмосферу, яка тримає в напрузі до останньої сторінки. Книга не лише розважає, а й спонукає до роздумів про власне життя, про цінності та цілі. Форд створює персонажа, якого неможливо не полюбити, навіть незважаючи на його недоліки. Це роман, який залишає слід у душі, і я б рекомендував його всім, хто шукає глибокі та змістовні твори. Незважаючи на деякі недоліки в перекладі, які незначно впливають на загальне враження, "День Незалежності" вартий уваги і стане чудовим доповненням до бібліотеки кожного любителя літератури.
