Katya, an ordinary 24-year-old girl living in Rostov, has the unusual ability to move objects with the power of thought. This gift brings her nothing but disappointment until she meets Denis, a travel agency employee. Throughout the story, Denis explains to the girl that the power of thought extends not only to objects, but also to events. He teaches the girl to adapt the world around her to herself, calling this process controlled luck. In the course of events, Katya first falls into the company of representatives of the underground, and then flees from the Inquisition, which for some reason began to hunt her and Denis. Two inquisitors have the same abilities as Denis - they manage coincidences. Denis suggests hitchhiking to an unusual place on the seashore; in his opinion, the fugitives will be safe there. The place is called Butris and is an anomalous zone. Boutris gives answers to all questions and has many mystical features. On the way to the sea, Katya and Denis end up in Tikhoretsk, where they meet local informals and another street musician who helps the fugitives understand who is chasing them. The evening of the next day, the couple ends up at a biker festival, where Katya learns shocking details about her companion and understands even more deeply her abilities related to telekinesis. The continuation of the journey is also full of events, colorful characters and philosophical reflections, and Butris turns out to be a real paradise, inhabited by amazing and unusual people who came there from all over the country. Boutris really gives the answers the fugitives need, but new knowledge does not bode well.
