“The Mythological Library” is a work in 3 volumes, representing a large collection of traditional Greek mythology and heroic legends. The “Library” is one of the most important sources on Greek mythology today. Only part of this work has survived, but not in the original, but in a copy. The author of the “Library” is the unknown ancient Greek writer Apollodorus, mistakenly identified with Apollodorus of Athens. A detailed analysis of the text showed that this Apollodorus (a name common in Ancient Greece) could not be the famous grammarian Apollodorus of Athens, in particular because the text quotes the Roman author Castor of Rhodes, a contemporary of Cicero. For this reason, the author of the text is called “Pseudo-Apollodorus”, since science has no more data about him.

Псевдо-Аполлодор вдало поєднує міфологічні сюжети, що робить цю бібліотеку важливим джерелом для дослідників та любителів міфології. Я б рекомендував цю книгу не лише студентам, а й усім, хто бажає поринути у світ давніх легенд та відкрити для себе нові грані людської природи.
