The short novel, supplemented with a new chapter in the 2021 edition, was first published in 2017. The characters in the album of family photographs belong to the Russian intelligentsia of various ranks. These are people of different character and make-up who were destined to live in the critical pre-revolutionary and post-revolutionary years. This is not an attempt at a historical, but rather a psychological novel. The author tried to create something like portraits of people, dissimilar in character and beliefs, with different, sometimes bizarre, but equally sad destinies.
